Apuesta de la Sanidad Publica Madrileña por el PET-TAC

Ya está colgado en el blog de noticias PET-TAC el pdf de la resolución de la Comunidad de Madrid por la cual se adjudican 4 nuevas cámaras PET-TAC en la red hospitalaria pública madrileña. La relación definitiva de los 6 hospitales públicos en Madrid con equipos PET-TAC queda así:

- Hº Universitario La Paz
- Hº Puerta de Hierro-Majadahonda
- Hº Clinico San Carlos
- Hº Doce de Octubre
- Hº Gregorio Marañon
- Hº Universitario de Getafe

La apuesta de la Sanidad Pública Madrileña por la tecnología es muy importante y culmina el esfuerzo de muchos de nuestros compañeros por conseguir este logro. Mi más sincera enhorabuena y agradecimiento a esos médicos nucleares que han conseguido algo impensable hace unos años. Esperamos que el resto de Comunidades Autónomas sigan el ejemplo de Madrid y la técnica sea incorporada de forma definitiva y sin limitaciones burocráticas en el ambiente hospitalario tanto público como privado

El siguiente reto es conseguir que otros radiofármacos PET distintos de la FDG puedan ser utilizados también de forma rutinaria y sin los problemas que actualmente existen. Confiemos en ello

PET/CT Imaging in Esophageal Cancer Webcast
In an effort to raise awareness for molecular imaging and its clinical
utility, the AMI is sponsoring a new educational web-based lecture
series on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) entitled "Molecular
Imaging for Impact". These webcasts are designed for imagers as well
as for referring physicians. Each webcast will cover a unique topic -
everything from current trends in lung nodule staging to new
indications for oncologic imaging and emerging practices in the
evaluation of coronary artery disease. These programs will begin this
month and will continue through 2009.

Be sure to inform your clinician colleagues about this educational
series and book your calendars for the inaugural live webcast on August
11th. The first lecture is entitled "PET/CT Imaging in Esophageal
Cancer" on August 11th at 1:00 pm Eastern Time. Our speaker is Steve
Larson, MD, of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Anyone is welcome to join the webcast and there is no charge to attend.

"El Ministerio de Sanidad ha propuesto un real decreto para regular la disponibilidad de medicamentos en situaciones especiales, cuyo objetivo será garantizar y facilitar a los pacientes el acceso a medicamentos en investigación o su uso en condiciones no autorizadas en la actualidad, así como agilizar los trámites para importar medicamentos extranjeros no disponibles ni autorizados en España. Según el borrador de esta norma, la disponibilidad de los medicamentos en fase de investigación podrá hacerse bien de forma individualizada o para un grupo de pacientes"

The Academy of Molecular Imaging has a new mail forum that has been up and running for about 45 days. Currently over 300 people have moved to the new mail forum, but some people are still using the old forum. Please note that the old mail forum will soon become obsolete and everyone will have to register and use the new mail forum which, by the way, is far superior to the old one.

To register in the new AMI forum please go to the AMI website: http://www.ami-imaging.org/ and click on the link that says FORUM. Once you have done that you will be at the new AMI mail forum. Please click on the REGISTER link, which will prompt you to create a user ID and password. The entire process will take less than 30 seconds.

On another matter, the AMI moved to a new address on June 2nd, and we have new telephone and fax numbers as well. Below is the new address and contact information:
